Note: One is tempted to suggest that it may take several more attempys-whether successful or not-to get congress and the American people to support strict gun-control legislation.
From a Japan vantage point, the U.S. at times still seems dominated by the sprit of the Wild West. Given the constitutional right to bear arms and the conservative penchant for protecting that right against all odds and argu-ments, the availability of
firearms will be a long time in abating.
